President Director Of BCA Jahja Setiaatmadja Reveals The Secret To Successfully Disbursing Rp. 20 Trillion Of Credit A Month During Pandemic

JAKARTA - President Director of PT. Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) Jahja Setiaatmadja said he successfully distributed credit up to Rp. 20 trillion within a month during the pandemic. According to him, the success is supported by the company's strategy in seeing opportunities in the midst of difficult times like today.

"Yesterday we made a virtual event of Rp. 20 trillion," he said in a virtual discussion broadcasted by CNBC Indonesia, Thursday, April 8.

The activity referred to by Jahja is BCA Expoversary Online which was held in March 2021 as a form of celebration of the company's 64th anniversary.

At the event, the largest private bank in Indonesia managed to combine an offline business model with an online system.

"We take the initiative to form a platform that accommodates them (offline businesses) to meet customers, then we give attractive interest and so be it," he said.

In BCA Expoversary Online there are two segmentations of flagship businesses that are encouraged, namely home-ownership loans (KPR) and vehicle ownership loans (KKB). Both are consumer credit sectors that are one of the mainstays of banks with the BBCA stock code.

"There are actually many car dealers that are not online yet. Likewise with property developers, few are already online, when they have an ecosystem. From there we connect with the digital ecosystem at BCA, and the results are good," he explained.

Jahja also compared the initial condition of the pandemic where the company is very difficult to channel the financing of the consumption sector because many people choose to delay the use of their funds.

"Previously at the beginning of the pandemic we were half dead looking for consumption credit, one month can only be Rp. 1-2 trillion," he added.

For information, throughout 2020 BCA is said to have distributed credit on a consolidated basis amounting to Rp. 588.7 trillion, or weakened 2.5 percent compared to the previous year period.

The achievement resulted in the company's profit growth contracting 5.14 percent to Rp. 27.13 trillion from Rp. 28.6 trillion in 2019.
