Receiving A Visit From The Singaporean PM, Prabowo Discusses New Renewable Energy To Electric Exports

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto received an official state visit from Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta today, Wednesday, November 6.

In his remarks, Prabowo revealed that the two discussed various things, one of which was related to the economic and energy sector.

"I hope that this visit will be a momentum for us to increase cooperation even better in the future, especially in the strategic and important sectors including cooperation in Defense, law, trade, investment, food and energy security and human resource development," Prabowo said in his remarks, Wednesday, November 6.

Regarding cooperation in the energy sector, Prabowo said that he and Lawrence discussed investment in priority sectors, including renewable energy in downstream industry.

Not only that, related to low-carbon energy technology, Prabowo said the two of them also discussed ongoing cooperation projects such as electric export projects from Indonesia to Singapore.

"Kam discussed ongoing cooperation projects, including cross-border electrical interconnections," Prabowo continued.

Furthermore, Prabowo said that the two also discussed the green hydrogen cooperation project in Sumatra and the Solar Power Plant as well as the capture and storage of carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).

Previously, Singapore announced that it would increase the low-carbon electricity import quota from Indonesia from 2 gigawatts (GW) to 3.4 GW to support renewable energy needs in the future.

The Minister of Manpower and the Second Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Tan See Leng, at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2024 event in Jakarta, Thursday, said that Singapore had previously given conditional approval (conditional approval) to five Indonesian companies to import low-carbon electricity of 2 GW.
