Komdigi Prioritizes Settlement Of 4TS 4G BTS Development In Papua Region
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) said it would prioritize the completion of the 542 base transceiver station (BTS) construction in the Papua region.
According to Meutya, the obstacle currently faced in the process of building 4G BTS in Papua is due to heavy and hard-to-reach terrain constraints.
However, he said that the Ministry of Communication and Trade had conducted consultations with the TNI to deepen the development at the location.
"We have consulted with the TNI. There are indeed some who need to enter. We still need to deepen whether we are ready to enter together because the area is considered or the terrain is considered rather difficult to reach," Meutya said at a Working Meeting with Commission I of the DPR RI on Tuesday, November 5.
The Ministry of Communication and Trade has completed the construction of 5,321 4G base transceiver stations (BTS) out of a total of 5,618 BTS targeted to be built by the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) in the 3T area.
In addition, in the Komdigi program plan in the near future, Meutya targets 4G signal coverage in 65 villages that still have limited access, especially in 3T areas, together with cellular network operators.

In the past and previous periods, we have reached a reach of 97 percent of connectivity. However, this is not enough if the connection is still partially 2G, which means it is very slow," he said.
Through this policy, Meutya hopes to open more opportunities for people in the 3T area, including increasing their internet capacity connections in all corners of Indonesia.
"In our short-term priority is to increase capacity so that in some areas the internet connection can be faster not only wider but faster," he said.
