KPK: Corruption Is Currently An Epidemic
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nurul Ghufron said corruption is no longer an ordinary disease. The familiar practices he often mentions are the same as epidemics or epidemics.
"Corruption is currently a phenomenon, a systematic phenomenon, a massive and even structured phenomenon," Ghufron told reporters at the ACLC KPK Building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Tuesday, November 5.
"So if you had experience yesterday through COVID-19, the current corruption disease is not heart disease, not eye disease, not lung disease. But this is already an epidemic," he continued.
Ghufron said his statement was not without reason. Because now there is no longer any area that is free from corruption.
Likewise with ministries and institutions. "Almost all of them are infected. If this is the condition, the eradication is if you have a disease, if your heart goes to a clinic, you go to a heart specialist, if you have a respiratory disease to a lung specialist, if you are itching on a skin specialist," he said.
"But if then the disease is all almost the same, it infects everyone, what does it mean? Doctors can no longer be able one by one but then they must be done in a way, it must be done with a system approach," said Ghufron.
He said the approach to this system was more appropriate to be done than the cassuistic approach. The hope is that the legal industry will not be born later.

"We actually think that the casuistic approaches only produce the legal industry. When we are chased, arrested, suspected, gave birth to what? Giving birth to the suspect was then accompanied by a lawyer or advocate. For what reason, only for the legal business process in court, giving birth to clients, giving birth to relations between the suspect and his advocate until they win and then lose and then the convict," concluded Ghufron.
