Minister Ara: Six Companies Have Committed To Support The 3 Million Houses Program

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait or who is familiarly called Ara revealed that six companies have expressed their commitment to support the program of 3 million houses, including a number of individuals who are willing to donate their land.

In a working meeting with Commission V of the DPR RI in Jakarta, Monday, November 4, Ara said that cooperation with the private sector was important considering the limited ministry budget.

Ara admitted that he had obtained permission from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to involve the private sector in all housing development processes, ranging from land supply to physical development.

"I have asked the Head of BPKP, whether the land is from the private sector, the building is private, the permits are private, okay. So I will do that," he said, quoted from Antara.

However, Ara emphasized the importance of preparing the right instrument in order to create good governance in the cooperation. He also admitted that flexibility is needed in his rules, including related to the financing model.

For example, if someone wants to give up their land, but who will build it? If no one builds it, can the budget be from us (the government)? So there are variations (financing). So here we need flexibility of the rules, but not against the law," he explained.

He also emphasized that his party will continue to seek innovative ways to achieve the target of 3 million houses per year.

He also stated that he would immediately prepare a clear blueprint or roadmap in achieving the target of building 3 million houses per year.

The budget of the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas in 2025 for housing development is IDR 5.078 trillion, down from 2024 which reached IDR 14.3 trillion.

The Minister of PKP previously stated that to realize the target of 3 million houses, one of which was the use of flats which were still empty and had not been widely occupied.

He gave an example, the flats or Pasar Rumput Flats have 1,984 units, but only about 400 units have been filled for the relocation of Manggarai fire victims.

Another effort is the use of confiscated land from corruptors to be converted to public housing, including state civil servants (ASN) and members of the TNI-Polri.

One of the confiscated lands that has the potential to assist the program is the use of land with a total area of 1,000 hectares in Banten which was confiscated by the Attorney General's Office from corruptors.

Referring to data from the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, the realization of the One Million Houses Program (PSR) in 2015-2023 reached 9,206,379 units. The prognosis of PSR achievement in 2024 is set at 1,042,739 units. However, PSR's achievement until October 2024 has only reached 947,485 units.
