Record Positive Results In The Third Quarter Of 2024, BYD Adds The Number Of Productions

JAKARTA - One of China's automotive manufacturers, BYD increased production by nearly 200,000 units in the third quarter (August-October) and recruited nearly 200,000 new employees in manufacturing and car components.

Reported by Reuters, Monday, November 4, the manufacturer also received a net lab increase of 11.5 percent in the third quarter. Revenue for the July-September 2024 period jumped 24 percent on an annual basis to 201.1 billion yuan.

This acquisition makes BYD superior in quarterly revenue when compared to Tesla. What's more, the manufacturer has stopped producing pure gasoline (ICE) vehicles in 2022.

In October, BYD managed to sell 500,526 units of vehicles, an increase of 66 percent when compared to the previous year in the same period.

For ten months this year, the manufacturer has sold 3,236,927 units (up 36 percent). Meanwhile, the company's official target is to send 3.6 million vehicles worldwide by the end of 2024.

To continue this trend, BYD also presents a number of its newest products, especially in the home market itself. The manufacturer will market a premium SUV called Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) Bao 8 with a six to seven seating configuration.

Customers only need to pay 3.000 yuan or the equivalent of IDR 6.670 million. So far, this model has arrived in 34 cities in China in the first batch to be followed by 27 other cities in the near future.

Although the official price will be announced in November, it is estimated that FCB Bao 8 has a price tag of around 400,000 to 500,000 yuan (equivalent to IDR 889.3 million to IDR 1.111 billion).

In terms of design, BYD FCB Bao 8 takes inspiration from the design philosophy of 'Future Starship Aesthetics' which gives a strong impression but remains futuristic. A solid impression can be seen in this model which has a rim size of up to 20 inches with a 275/55 R20 tire.

The dimensions of this car are quite large with a length of 5,195 mm, a width of 1,994 mm, a height of 1,875 mm, and a wheelbase of up to 2,920 mm. In addition, the SUV has a maximum towing capacity of up to 2.5 tons.

FCB Bao 8 is powered by a 2.0T 268 dk engine with a double 402 dk electric motor, resulting in a total output of 768 dk and a 760 Nm torque. Thus, this can make it run from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Carrying a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system, this large SUV also has an LFP 36.8 kWh battery which makes it capable of running pure electricity up to 125 km.
