Team Cook: IOS 181 Update Rate Reaches Doubled From IOS 17.1

JAKARTA - Apple recently announced a remarkable increase in its latest iOS operating system update rate. Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed that users installed iOS 18.1 at a double speed compared to iOS 17.1 in the same period last year. Cook made this announcement in an interview with CNBC ahead of Apple's latest earnings call.

Cook explained that this initial data only spans three days from the launch of iOS 18.1, but shows a very promising adoption rate. According to Cook, this rapid increase was driven by user enthusiasm for the innovative Apple Intelligence feature, which is the flagship in iOS 18.1 and has been released in the United States on October 28, 2024.

Apple Intelligence, which is exclusive to the US today, is claimed to be one of the main reasons many users immediately update their devices to iOS 18.1. Apart from the latest devices such as the iPhone 16, this feature is also available for the iPhone Pro model from 2023, which encourages the adoption of this system update both among new users and old users.

Cook stated that Apple Intelligence's success shows an upward trend in any operating system update released by Apple, with a comparison that version 15 is more adopted than version 14, followed by version 16 which is higher than version 15, and beyond.

Apple Intelligence on Mac

Not only on the iPhone, but Apple Intelligence has also been launched for macOS Sequoia users in the US on the same day. However, Cook did not disclose specific adoption data for Mac users. However, with a positive response to iOS 18.1, it is estimated that adoption for macOS Sequoia will also experience the same trend.

Going forward, Apple hopes that Apple Intelligence can be adopted more widely in various regions. Cook also added that Apple continues to strive to improve user experience with more innovative features, which it believes will further strengthen user loyalty to Apple products.
