Malaysia Collaborates With China To Realize Technology Growth And Sustainable Development
JAKARTA - Malaysia's partnership with China is considered to be the key to realizing Malaysia's innovation and technology ambitions and improving the quality of life of the people in the two countries.
Chairman of the Malaysia-China Technology Promotion Association (Malaysia-China Technology Promotion Association) Lee Chean Chung said such cooperation was also in line with Malaysia's efforts to strengthen relations with Global South and its participation in groups such as BRICS.
The group leads to China's role as the main driver, he said in a statement at the Malaysia-China Technology Cooperation and Industry Forum (Malaysia-China Technology Innovation and Industry Cooperation Forum).
"We gathered with the same goal, namely to deepen collaboration, generate innovation, and advance technological progress between Malaysia and China," he said, stating that such forums provide space to change potential to a real achievement that will boost industry, strengthen the economy, and improve the quality of life of society.
"As an emerging market, Malaysia is actively exploring opportunities to join the BRICS cooperation framework. By integrating with the BRICS model, we want to expand our global reach and deepen relations with major countries, including China... This framework not only opens the door to new growth, but also encourages mutual prosperity, especially those that benefit South Global countries," he said, as quoted by Antara.
One of the officials present was Li Zhiqiang, head of the Asia and African affairs division of the Chinese Center for Science and Technology Exchange Center (CSTEC), which led a Chinese delegation consisting of six leading Chinese companies specializing in cutting-edge sectors such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and communications technology.
"This forum is proof of our shared commitment to technological innovation and sustainable growth," said Li, adding that the new partnerships formed in this forum will drive common goals and create meaningful results for the two countries.
Meanwhile, Ooi Tze Min, Malaysia's political secretary of science, technology and innovation, said collaboration with China is changing the industry, driving growth, and creating high-quality jobs, which ultimately increases productivity in various sectors.
"By working together, Malaysia and China can lead the development of solutions for various global challenges, both in the health care sector, environmental sustainability, and digital transformation. These joint efforts will have a broad impact," he said.
This forum brings together government officials, academics, and industrial innovators from the two countries, which are united by a common vision to advance technological progress and sustainable development.
