MotoGP Malaysia: Jorge Martin Focuses On Winning World Titles

JAKARTA - Prima Pramac Racing racer Jorge Martin said he would focus on giving maximum performances to the Malaysian Grand Prix to lock up the 2024 MotoGP world title.

"I am very grateful to be in this position. My team did their job well and now I have to focus," said Martin, quoted from the official MotoGP video caption, Saturday.

"Tomorrow will be a challenging day, but the most important thing right now is to give a 100 percent appearance, avoid mistakes, and take chances," he added.

Martin is now getting closer to winning the world title this season after widening the gap in points with Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo) who is in second place in the standings.

Martin is now 29 points ahead of the world champion twice and today's Malaysian GP Sprint victory has added to his confidence.

However, before the short race started, Martin admitted that he was nervous.

"Today was actually quite tough for me. I thought a lot (about the world title) before the (Sprint) race started," said Martin.

"Today's expectation is Pecco (Bagnaia) won first and second place, but I want to win and I know how my character is in racing. Mental is an important thing for me right now, and I can overcome that pressure," he added.

Martin could also become world champion if he finished first and Bagnaia in third in the main race in Sepang, Sunday (3/11).

If Martin finishes in second place, then Bagnaia must finish fifth so the Spaniard can lock the title to the highest this season. Meanwhile, the main race of the Malaysian Grand Prix will be held on Sunday (3/11) at 15.10 WIB.
