Italian Navy Sailing Ship, Amerigo Vespucci, Sandar At Belawan Port
JAKARTA - PT Pelindo Regional 1 Belawan said the sailing ship Amerigo Vespucci owned by the Italian Navy docked at Belawan Port, North Sumatra, for three days on November 1-3, 2024.
"Amerigo Vespucci is not just a sailing ship, but also an icon of world culture and maritime history," said Executive General Manager of PT Pelindo Regional 1 Belawan Joenadi Ramli as quoted by Antara in Medan, Saturday.
Joenadi said the presence of this legendary ship at Belawan Port was a matter of pride for PT Pelindo Regional 1 Belawan.
Furthermore, he said, the presence of the ship can add insight and inspiration to the public regarding the world of shipping, as well as international maritime culture.
"Every corner of the ship reflects maritime tradition's expertise and beauty with a fully detailed interior, presenting a unique combination of classic shipping art and sophistication of modern technology," said Joenadi.

Captain Giuseppe Lai said the visit was part of the 26th phase of the world tour, where Amerigo Vespucci sailed to various countries to establish diplomacy and introduce Italian maritime culture.
With a mission that lasted about two years, this ship aims to complete a journey around the world that brings the spirit of friendship and respect between nations.
