The Latest Generation Mercedes-Benz CLA Will Enter The Production Stage, Using Geely Machines?

JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz has expressed concepts for the latest generation CLA model some time ago. Ahead of its debut, information about specifications has been widespread.

The latest news from this model is that this luxury sedan will be equipped with a gasoline machine (ICE) with a capacity of 2.0 liters of turbocharged 4-cylinder from Horse Powertrain Limited. This is the maker of the machine which is the result of a joint venture between Renault and Geely.

Launching from Carscoops, Saturday, October 2, the engine is expected to generate up to 250 dk of power and 360 Nm of torque. Production will be carried out in China, but catalytic converters will not be installed until the engine arrives in Germany, to ensure the machine complies with Europe's strict emission standards.

Keep in mind, Geely Li Shufu officials own 10 percent of shares in Mercedes-Benz. In addition, the Chinese company also operates a joint venture with the luxury brand in building a Smart brand.

Furthermore, a number of reports report that the machine will be paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that is integrated with electric and transmission motors, providing smooth and efficient driving in fuel consumption.

Previously, Mercedes-Benz had revealed the form of the latest generation CLA at the 39th Anniversary Festival in France with a cover sticker.

Despite being covered in camouflage stickers, the car shows a different form than the previous generation even approaching the concept version that was revealed last year.

This luxury automotive manufacturer will take advantage of the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA) platform for the next generation of CLA which is claimed to have high flexibility so that it is suitable for adoption with gasoline and electric propulsion engines.

However, it is possible that the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version for the latest CLA is also presented to provide many choices for customers.

The presence of camouflage in the latest generation of CLA also indicates that the sedan will soon enter the production stage. It is hoped that the EV version will match the concept version.

As an illustration, the concept is to have a 235 dk electric motor and have a distance of 750 km. With the MMA platform, the latest CLA can charge for 15 minutes to cover a distance of up to 400 km.
