BMKG: The Majority Of Big Cities In Indonesia Potentially Rain Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that the majority of major cities in Indonesia have the potential to experience rain with various intensities today.

BMKG forecaster, Hasalika Nurjana in an online weather forecast, quoted by Antara, Saturday, November 2, said rain with various intensities could potentially fall in Sumatra starting from thunderstorms in Medan, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, and Bandar Lampung as well as light rain in Banda Aceh and Jambi.

For the Java Island area, he said there was the potential for rain accompanied by lightning to occur in the Semarang and Surabaya areas as well as moderate-intensity rain in Serang and Yogyakarta, while light rain in Jakarta and Bandung.

BMKG also warned of the possibility of rain in a number of areas in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, specifically light rain can be experienced by those in Denpasar, Mataram and Kupang areas.

Hasalika explained that rain accompanied by lightning is predicted to occur in the Tanjung Selor, Palangka Raya and Banjarmasin areas for the Kalimantan Island region. Meanwhile, Pontianak and Samarinda have the potential to experience light rain.

BMKG predicts rain to dominate a number of major cities in Sulawesi, including moderate rain that has the potential to occur in Mamuju and the potential for light rain to fall in the areas of Gorontalo, Manado, Palu, Kendari and Makassar.

In eastern Indonesia, rainfall is occurring in Jayapura and light intensity is predicted to fall in Ambon, Ternate, Sorong, Nabire, Manokwari, Jayawijaya and Merauke.
