5 Series Of MotoGP Replacement Candidates For Valencia 2024 Canceled
JAKARTA - There are five alternative places that are said to be included in the list as a substitute for the 2024 Valencia MotoGP race which has been officially canceled.
The MotoGP race in Valencia is supposed to take place on November 15-17, 2024 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. However, the series is definitely not held.
The postponement was carried out by the MotoGP after a storm of funds that caused flash floods damaged Valencia and surrounding areas.
In addition to severe damage, the flash flood also claimed hundreds of lives. Currently, the recorded death toll is more than 150 people and it is estimated that this number will continue to grow.
After announcing the postponement, MotoGP has yet to confirm a replacement place. However, several reports say there are at least five alternative locations that could be an option.
In an official statement, MotoGP ensures that even if the race in Valencia is not held, the replacement race will take place with the title "Race for Valencia" as a tribute to the victims.
Motorsport reports that Qatar, Jerez, and Portimao are currently being considered as substitutes. In addition, there are also other options, namely Jerez, Barcelona, Aragon, and Qatar.
Jerez and Barcelona are referred to by Diario AS as the two most likely options. That's because the two places are both in Spain, just like Valencia.
The Valencia replacement race is expected to be delayed for one week, on November 22-24 to be exact. If so, it will automatically change the pre-season schedule that should have been held on November 19.
Currently Jorge Martin is still leading the top of the standings. The Spaniard has a chance to lock up the world title in Malaysia this weekend even though it is small.
To become a champion, Martin must secure one in four difficult scenarios. Thus, he is likely to remain competitive with Francesco Bagnaia until the weekend.
If that happens then the final series race will attract a lot of attention. The reason is, the two names competing from last season will compete to win the world champion this year.
