Minister Of Manpower Calls For Early Warning Systems For Layoffs In Each Region

JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower Yassierli called on each region to build an early warning system for potential layoffs (PHK) in companies.

"With the early warning system, it is hoped that it can mitigate the social and economic impacts caused by the high number of layoffs," Yassierly said, quoting Antara.

These efforts, he said, were to reduce the number of layoffs (PHK) in a number of regions in Indonesia, which were recorded until October 2024, there were 59,796 workers who experienced layoffs.

"As of October 2024, there were 59,796 workers who were laid off. This number has increased by 25,000 workers in the last three months," he said.

Furthermore, regarding the determination of the 2025 Minimum Wage, the Minister of Manpower appealed to all Governors to set the 2025 Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) no later than November 21, 2024.

Meanwhile, the determination of the Regency/City Minimum Wage must be carried out no later than November 30, 2024, taking into account suggestions from the Wage Council and Central Government directives based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

"We all want the determination of the 2025 minimum wage to take place in a conducive manner. The Minister of Home Affairs and I urge all parties (centrals and regions) to prioritize communication and social dialogue with all employment stakeholders," he concluded.

Previously, the Minister of Manpower Yassierli, together with the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and all Regional Heads at the Provincial, Regency and City Levels held a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) in Jakarta, Thursday (31/10).

The coordination meeting discussed the surge in Employment Termination (PHK) and the determination of the 2025 Minimum Wage.

Yassierli said this coordination meeting was to harmonize employment policies between the Central and Regional Governments, as well as to increase coordination of the surge in the number of layoffs (PHK).
