Erick Thohir Calls Indofarma's Aspirations To Be A Producer Of Herbal Drugs Blocked By Corruption Cases

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir revealed that initially PT Indofarma Tbk (INAF) would be used as a producer of herbal medicine. However, this goal could not be achieved because it was hampered by the company's improper governance.

"At first it was a dream, this is an ideal, we want Indofarma to specialize in herbs, in our roadmap. Yes, why? We see that our potential herbal medicines are not inferior to India and China," he said at a press conference at the Ministry of SOEs Office, Jakarta, Friday, November 1.

"It's just a shame, it's back, GCG if it's violated, that goal doesn't come true," he concluded.

Currently, said Erick, allegations of corruption in Bio Farma's subsidiary remain a priority in the legal process.

He admitted that he was indiscriminate in the corruption case at state-owned companies.

"Again, for the restoration of ushaa's children, we will try to follow up on the corruption case. I don't think we are indiscriminate, we will check, we will take anyone who commits fraud or fraud," he said.

In addition, said Erick, the Ministry of SOEs is also preparing a strategy to make the company's condition healthy.

"But the most important thing is if we look at how the modeling business needs to be improved," he said.

Erick also regrets this. Because, according to him, the world is currently looking at herbal medicine as an option. This opportunity was originally wanted to be caught through a state-owned company.

"It should be that, which we are seeing now, globally, these herbal medicines have become an alternative medicine that is currently becoming a dolution for safety or health in a sustainable manner," he said.
