New Era For Priority Tourism Destinations: Improve Service Attractiveness And Quality

JAKARTA - A smart tourism platform based on science is being developed by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) together with the Jember State Polytechnic (POLIJE).

Later, the digital-based platform will be used for the five Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP) that have been set by the government, such as Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, Likupang, Lake Toba, and Borobudur.

This collaboration is an important step in increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian tourism in the digital era.

"The platform that we will develop is not only using AI technology to provide recommendations for tour packages, but also supports systematic policy evaluation of DPSP," said Head of the BRIN Research and Information Research Center Esa Prakasa as quoted by Antara.

The three main subsystems in this smart tourism platform include a dashboard analysis of sentiment, mobility analysis, and a tourist preference-based recommendation system.

With this platform, it is hoped that DPSP can attract more tourists, extend the length of stay, and enrich the experience during holidays.

Secretary of the Department of Information Technology POLIJE Trismayanti Dwi Puspitasari positively welcomed this collaboration by emphasizing that this project will be a means of learning for students and lecturers to contribute directly to tourism technology innovation.

According to him, this collaboration allows POLIJE to contribute through the development of technology that is able to increase the attractiveness and quality of services in Indonesian tourism destinations.

"This is expected to encourage the growth of the local creative economy and empower the community around the DPSP through the promotion of local products and tourism services," said Trismayanti.

It is known, Minister of Tourism (Menpar) Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said, Kemenpar has a large target of reaching 14 million foreign tourists (tourists) in 2024 which has only reached 9.09 million foreign tourists or or an increase of 20.38 percent in the January-August 2024 period.

"We have a target of the next five years. Of course we will promote higher quality tourists, promote more promotions abroad," he continued.

He emphasized that collaboration between ministries is crucial in advancing Indonesian tourism.

Widi conveyed that the tourism issue requires the cooperation of many parties to find solutions to increase the growth in the number of visits to improve the quality of services in the Indonesian tourism sector.

"Regarding accessibility, transportation, affordable ticket prices, we must immediately address it with other ministries and institutions so that foreign tourists (nusantara tourists) can travel in Indonesia cheaper," he said.
