Pertamina International Shipping Ship Delivers LPG To Baltic Countries
JAKARTA - Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) managed to deliver 1,700 metric tons of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) to Baltic countries for the first time.
This introduction also adds to the row of international routes traversed by PIS ships, and is a historic milestone for PIS, which has a vision to become the leading maritime logistics company in the world.
The LPG transportation agreement was reached between PIS and Energia Nord Owas using the Pertamina Group Gas Arjuna ship which weighs 2,398 DWT. The ship loaded from Gothenburg, Sweden, for three days, Arjuna Gas finally arrived in Riga, Latvia, on October 19, 2024.
Director of Gas, Petrokimia, and New Business of PIS Arief Sukmara said the LPG delivery marked the important PIS journey in business expansion in the world.
"The delivery of the LPG mix to the Baltic is important because it not only strengthens the footsteps of the PIS business in Europe, but also expands new business opportunities for future companies," said Arief, quoted on Friday, November 1.
Conflicts still ongoing in Eastern Europe have prompted Baltic countries such as Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to seek diversification of energy supply sources, including a more efficient and competitive supply of LPG.
Based on these conditions, PIS assesses that the company has a great opportunity to introduce the reliability of maritime logistics services through representative offices, both PIS Asia Pacific (PIS AP) in Singapore and PIS Middle East (PIS ME) in Dubai, throughout Europe and other areas.
This transportation to the Baltic is one of the fruits of a business network established by PIS ME.
"We are also proud of the success of this transportation, which can be completed quickly and on time. PIS will continue to strive to expand our market reach to serve the world's energy supply needs," added Arief.
For information, the Arjuna Gas ship is one of Pertamina Group's ships that passed the Paris MoU inspection which ensures the ship meets international safety, security and environmental standards.
