Ready To Continue Construction Of The Jakarta-Surabaya High Speed Train, AHY: I Will Learn More In Detail

AHY admitted that he was studying the continuation of the high-speed rail project. Because, he said, the project requires great resources both in terms of funding and its workers.

"Regarding the high-speed train, there are also many who ask questions, but I think we will continue to study this and I will study in more detail," he said at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 30.

"But at least I see this as important, this is something that will become a game changer if it can be realized. This requires a lot of resources. And also support from various parties," he continued.

AHY assessed that the course of this project had a broad impact on the economy and connectivity. However, he admitted that he still needed to coordinate with other parties to formulate the project.

"I will study, I will not convey in detail first because this is my phase to be able to better understand the problem as well as learn the targets set previously," he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, admitted that he would support the direction given by AHY regarding the development of connectivity.

"We hope that in the future we will always receive directions, in connection with your duties as Coordinating Minister, where there are several ministries that are connected to us," he said.

According to VOI records, the fast train project will certainly be extended. If previously it was Jakarta-Bandung, the follow-up route would be Jakarta-Surabaya. The plan, phase I will be built until Yogyakarta first.

President Director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said his party was working on a development plan. He said that for this initial stage the project would not immediately connect Jakarta with the City of Heroes.

He said, in this early stage, the extension of the high-speed train route is likely to be worked on until DI Yogyakarta first.

"On several occasions there is a President, Mr. Luhut (Menko Marves), Ministry of SOEs, Ministry of Transportation, all of them conveyed that there are plans for extensions to Surabaya. Maybe the stages go to Yogyakarta first," he told reporters in Jakarta, written Friday, January 26.

Furthermore, Dwiyana also explained why the extension of the route was not directly up to Surabaya. According to him, this is due to the question of the cost and timing of the construction of the project.

"There is a possibility like that. If it reaches Surabaya, it may be a matter of time, a matter of costs. Why not Yogyakarta?," he said.
