71-Year-Old Grandfather In Pekanbaru Arrested After Obscene Elementary School Students

PEKANBARU - Police arrested a 71-year-old grandfather for allegedly committing a criminal act of molestation against a 4th grade elementary school (SD) student. Perpetrator H (71) who is a housing complex guard committed an obscene act against NF (11) at his home in Pekanbaru City, Riau, on Monday last week.

The Head of the Pekanbaru Police for Women and Child Protection (PPA), Iptu Mimi Wira SwaRTa, said the incident occurred during the day at the victim's house. The perpetrator entered the victim's house through the back door when the victim's parents were not at home.

"The suspect entered through the back door, at that time the victim was alone at home because his parents went to work. Then the suspect immediately abused the victim while threatening to be killed, the perpetrator also brought a machete," said Iptu Mimi, Wednesday, October 30.

This obscenity incident by old Renta was not the first time for the victim. The perpetrator turned out to have carried out his depraved act three times. The first action was carried out on Monday and the second action on Tuesday (22/10/2024). The perpetrator again forced the victim to serve his lecherous lust on Friday (25/10/2025).

"The victim did not want to and tried to run away from home. However, the perpetrator tried to withdraw it and that's where the incident was revealed. Because the child ran to the shop looking for his mother. Then the victim told his mother because he was molested by a housing complex guard," said Mimi.

Not accepting that his son was molested, the victim's mother then reported the incident to the Pekanbaru Police. Based on the report, the police then tried to arrest the perpetrator.

"However, the perpetrator had fled to Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan Regency. The perpetrator was finally arrested on Monday (28/10/2024) at kilometer 55 Pangkalan Kerinci. The perpetrator was then taken to the Pekanbaru Police PPA Unit for further investigation," said Mimi.

The suspect was charged with Article 81 in conjunction with Article 76D and/or Article 82 in conjunction with Article 76E of Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Child Protection with a maximum threat of 15 years in prison.
