Having Abundant Wealth, LHKPN Suspect Of Corruption Imports Of Tom Lembong Sugar IDR 101 Billion More
JAKARTA - The suspect in the sugar import case of the former minister of trade, Thomas Trikasih Lembong, reported that his total wealth reached Rp. 101.5 billion. Of this amount, the largest part came from securities with a value of Rp 94.5 billion.
Tuesday, October 29 evening, Tom was taken to a detention car by the Attorney General's Office after he was named a suspect in a sugar import case in the 2015-2016 period. He is also known as one of the officials who has abundant wealth.
Wearing a pink vest, Tom Lembong occasionally smiles when led by the prosecutor to the prisoner's car with another suspect with the initials CS.
While serving as minister and head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) during the era of President Joko Widodo's administration, Tom was known as one of the officials with the largest wealth.
Despite having abundant assets, Tom Lembong is not recorded as owning a vehicle, such as a private car or motorbike, at least according to the state administrator's wealth report (LHKPN) which he submitted in 2019.
In the report, Tom Lembong revealed that his total wealth reached Rp. 101.5 billion. Of this amount, the largest part comes from securities with a value of Rp. 94.5 billion.
In addition, he also noted other movable assets worth Rp. 180.9 million. Then, there are cash and cash equivalents worth Rp. 2.09 billion, as well as other assets worth Rp. 4.7 billion.
Jampidsus Director of Investigation at the Attorney General's Office, Abdul Qohar, said that the determination of the suspect Tom Lembong was based on the letter of determination of the suspect Number: Tap.Np 60/F/FDX/2024 on October 29, 2024.
"Determining the status of witnesses against two people to be suspects because they have fulfilled the evidence, namely TTL's brother as a former minister of trade and DS as the director of business development at PT PPI," explained Qohar, Tuesday night.

He continued, the two suspects were detained at the Salemba detention center for the next 20 days with detention warrants Number 50 and DS detained at the Salemba detention center at the Attorney General's Office based on detention warrant Number 51.
The case occurred in 2015 when Tom Lembong gave permission to import sugar, even though Indonesia at that time had a sugar surplus.
"Brother TTL has given permission to import 105,000 tons of raw crystal sugar," said Qahar.
