Caring For NTT Disaster Victims, East Java Provincial Government Sends 1 Ton Of Rice And IDR 1 Billion Aid

SURABAYA - Assistance for victims of natural disasters in East Nusa Tenggara continues to flow. This time, assistance came from the East Java Provincial Government, in the form of 1 ton of rice and Rp1 billion in cash.

"This assistance is a direct direction from the Governor. Later the aid will be sent by sea using the KRI Semarang ship on April 10, 2021," said East Java Provincial Secretary Heru Tjahjono to reporters, Wednesday, April 7.

In addition to material assistance, the East Java Provincial Government also plans to send personnel to help handle flash flood disasters in NTT. However, he said, his party would look at the conditions first.

"That's why we will see the conditions there, whether we deploy personnel or not," he said.

Heru said, his party is currently checking, collecting data, to find out whether or not East Java residents in NTT have become victims of the disaster. The East Java Provincial Government will follow up to provide further assistance.

"The data has not been checked. Later we will be there," he said.

Meanwhile, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, expressed his deep condolences, especially to the families of the victims who died. According to Khofifah, the people of NTT were not alone in dealing with this disaster.

"On behalf of myself and all the people of East Java, I would like to express my deep condolences for the victims who died in the tragedy. This incident is a common sorrow for Indonesia. Hopefully NTT can recover soon," said Khofifah.

Khofifah also invited all the people of East Java to participate in praying for the safety of NTT residents from the hydrometeorological disaster caused by the Seroja Cyclone. "God willing, the people of NTT are not alone. Hopefully all the people of NTT will be given patience and fortitude in facing this disaster," said Khofifah.
