Child Hostage Taking at Pejaten Police Post, Police: The Victim was Brought Since Sunday
JAKARTA - The police have revealed the results of their preliminary investigation into the hostage-taking of a young girl at the Pejaten police post, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. The perpetrator is said to have taken the victim since Sunday, October 27.
"We are currently investigating the suspect, Mr. IJ, who has been taking the victim since Sunday night," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters on Tuesday, October 29.
The perpetrator took the young girl at around 19:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) without the knowledge of the victim's parents. From Sunday night to Monday, October 28, the perpetrator is said to have taken the victim around East Jakarta and South Jakarta.
They went around the city using the perpetrator's motorbike. In fact, the victim fell asleep on the motorbike.
"The suspect took the victim without the permission and knowledge of the parents," he said.
The police are currently investigating the alleged presence of several criminal elements in the series of hostage-taking actions.
One of the alleged criminal elements is kidnapping. Because, the perpetrator took the little girl without the knowledge of her parents.
"Indeed, this incident is suspected to be criminal. The victim was taken from the victim's house from Sunday night until Monday (October 28)," he said.
Meanwhile, for the element of violence against children or molestation, said Ade, based on the confession of the little girl.
In addition, referring to the perpetrator's actions who brought a sharp weapon when holding the victim at the police post.
