Virgil Van Dijk Doesn't Rush To Decide On The Future At Liverpool, Wait For The End Of The Season

JAKARTA - Virgil van Dijk said he would postpone his decision on his future at Liverpool until the end of this season.

The Dutch defender said he still wanted to enjoy a trip with the Reds in hunting for various trophies.

Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold will all expire at Anfield at the end of this season. Each still has to sign a new contract if they want to stay.

However, the three of them have yet to discuss a new agreement. Especially for Van Dijk, he said he did not want to rush to negotiate a new contract with the club.

"I am very calm. Let's see what happens towards the end of the season."

"I enjoyed my football, physically and mentally. Continue to enjoy the game because it was a beautiful game we played and I played," Van Dijk told Sky Sports.

Virgil van Dijk helped Arsenal secure a point from Arsenal's headquarters. He contributed one goal in the match which ended 2-2.

Salah's late goal to equalize ensures Liverpool avoid the second league defeat of the season.

They are now close to Manchester City who are at the top of the standings with only one point difference.

Van Dijk, winner of the Premier League title with Liverpool in 2019/2020, said that one point against Arsenal was a good result in the context of fighting for the league title.

"Look, this is a very difficult place to come to. They (Arsenal) created a solid team and made it difficult for everyone."

"To get up twice is a good thing. We took a point and we drove."

"You play here, in London, they have fans behind them and they create momentum."

"You have to be ready to fight because you will experience difficult times. One point and we will win," said the 33-year-old defender.

Van Dijk further revealed that Liverpool's chances are still wide open considering the league's long journey.

"It sounds clich, but it's better than losing. There's an opportunity for us to try and win the game."

"The first half was difficult. We played well in the second half and tried to equalize."

"I think someone said to me last year, Manchester City lost here (Emerates) and they won the league."

"We were in October. I've read a lot that Arsenal will be knocked out of the title race if they lose."

"We are in a league where you can be at the top of a week and then not."

"We are in October and let's see what happens to us at the end of the season. Enjoy the trip," said Van Dijk.
