Want To Geber Biodiesel, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Notes An Increase In Consumption Every Year
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded an upward trend in the realization of the use of biodiesel in recent years.
Head of the Communications, Public Information Services and Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Agus Cahyono Adi revealed that the upward trend shows the government's commitment and seriousness in reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
"This also increases energy resistance by utilizing biodiesel, whose mixture ratio will also continue to be increased, which is now B35, will be increased to B40, then B50 to B60," Agus said as quoted on Monday, October 28.
Based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Agus detailed, in 2021 the realization of biodiesel will reach 9.3 million KL and in 2022 the realization of biodiesel will reach 10.45 million KL.
Meanwhile, 2023 increased to 12.2 million KL with mandatory B35 starting in August 2023. As for the economic benefits of biodiesel realization in 2023, there was a state foreign exchange savings of IDR 120.54 trillion, an increase in the added value of CPO to biodiesel of IDR 15.82 trillion, and employment of more than 11,000 people (off-farm) and 1.5 million people (on-farm).

"Energy independence, one of which is bioethenol, bioenergy, and biodiesel. Now we have B35 and B40 has finished testing," he said on Monday, October 21.
Bahlil said that in the future the government would encourage the use of B50 and B60, considering that the availability of palm oil supply as its raw material in Indonesia is quite abundant.
"If you ask whether it is enough or not, B35 to B40 we will spend approximately 14 million kiloliters. Now, while our exports are still large. So, if you ask whether our Crude Palm Oil (CPO) capacity is sufficient or not, it will be enough. Well, we just have to look at the technology, this technology must be by process for us to test it. So that when it is implemented, B50-B60 has really gone through a good trial," said Bahlil.
