KAI Commuter Takes Action On 42 Cases Of Sexual Harassment At KRL Throughout 2024
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) or KAI Commuter revealed that security officers have handled 106 cases of crime in the form of theft and vandalism until September 2024. Including 42 cases of harassment that occurred at KRL Commuter Line.
VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Joni Martinus, said that all cases of the crime had been reported to the police to continue the legal process.
"Throughout 2024 to September 30, there were 106 cases of crimes that were successfully handled by KAI Commuter security officers in the form of theft and vandalism and 42 acts of harassment," he said in an official statement, Friday, October 25.
Most recently, security officers at Pondok Cina Station managed to secure the thief of a Commuter Line user bag, who escaped by jumping over the fence at 20.30 WIB, Tuesday, October 22. Video footage of the perpetrator's arrest process went viral and became a conversation on social media.
"After receiving a report from the victim, the station security officer who served at Platform 2 Pondok Cina Station swiftly chased and managed to secure the perpetrator of the theft," said Joni.
Joni said the perpetrator who jumped the station fence to escape was arrested and secured by officers who were then taken to the Beji Police, Depok to continue the legal process.
Furthermore, Joni also said, currently KAI Commuter has 3,400 security officers who are assigned to the Jabodetabek Station area and on the Jabodetabek Commuter Line trip.
"KAI Commuter benefits security officers for 24 hours to ensure the safety of Commuter Line users," said Joni.
In addition to having a Gada Pratama certificate, namely basic martial arts expertise, continued Joni, KAI Commuter security officers are also equipped with service and safety training. One of them is Prima Service or Service Excellence training to improve service quality to users, as well as safety training for emergency response handling.

'Security officers are front liner officers who always connect with Commuter Line users. Their firm and gentle attitude must have in carrying out their daily duties, so that the role of maintaining the safety of users is maintained, as well as providing comfort to Commuter Line customers,' added Joni.
Joni said efforts to minimize disturbing measures in the KRL carriage were also assisted by KAI Commuter's face recognition technology.
Furthermore, Joni said that the perpetrators of crimes who have been registered in the KAI Commuter will no longer be able to use the Jabodetabek KRL transportation service.
"The seriousness of our officers in creating security, equipped with face recognition technology, hopefully it can keep Commuter Line users safe to travel. Because, actors who have been registered will not be allowed to use the Commuter Line," he said.
