Support Teacher Supriyani, Commission X Of The DPR Asks For Legal Protection

JAKARTA - Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives asked the teacher organization to provide legal protection for honorary teachers of State Elementary School (SDN) 4 Baito, South Konawe Regency (Konsel), Southeast Sulawesi, Supriyani who stumbled upon an alleged case of violence against her students.

The chairman of Commission X of the DPR, Hetifah Sjaifudian, stated that his party supports Supriyani to get legal justice for the case that happened to her.

"(Commission X) Provides support to Supriyani's teacher as an educator who is a professional worker, in order to get justice for the legal problems he experiences, in accordance with existing legal provisions," Hetifah told reporters, Friday, October 25.

Fundamentally, Hetifah explained, national education based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia which is rooted in the values of religion and national culture of Indonesia. In addition, the National Education System Law also states that national education functions to develop capabilities and shape character, dignified national civilization in order to educate the nation's life.

And aim to develop the potential of students to become human beings who believe and fear God Almighty, have noble character, are healthy, knowledgeable, capable, creative, independent, and are democratic and responsible citizens.

Then in the Teacher Law and Lecturers, it is also stated that teachers are professional educators with the main task of educating, teaching, guiding, directing, training, assessing, and evaluating students in early childhood education for formal education, basic education, and secondary education.

"And recently there has been an educational tragedy, Supriyani's teacher, an honorary teacher in South Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, who is experiencing legal problems because he is accused of molesting a student, where the student is the son of a police officer," said Hetifah.

Because this tragedy has attracted a lot of public attention, Hetifah asked law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the issue by prioritizing the principle of justice.

"(Commission X) Asks professional teacher organizations to provide legal protection to 'Teacher Supriyani', in accordance with Article 42 of the Teacher Law and Lecturers," said the Golkar legislator.

Hetifah emphasized that Commission X of the DPR RI is committed to realizing the education system in accordance with the provisions of the legislation, and providing support for the professional work of teachers.

It is known that Supriyani underwent her first trial at the Andoolo District Court, Thursday, October 24.

At the trial with the agenda of reading the indictment, the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Kendari District Attorney (Kejari) charged Supriyani with multiple articles of violence against minors.

The Public Prosecutor who is also the Head of the South Konawe District Attorney's Office, Ujang Sutisna, said that the defendant Supriyani was suspected of having committed violence against the child with the initials D at SDN 4 Baito, Wonua Raya Village, Baito District, South Konawe Regency, using the handle of the broom.
