Wave 2 Meters Melanda Laut NTT, BMKG Asks Shipping Services And Fishermen To Be Alert

NTT - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded shipping service actors and fishermen to be aware of waves as high as 1.25-2 meters in a number of waters in the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) sea in the next few days.

"Please pay attention to the high risk to shipping safety," said Tenau Maritime Meteorological Station Head Yandri Tungga in Kupang, Thursday, October 24, confiscated by Antara.

He said the wave height of 1.25-2 meters has the potential to occur in the southern part of the Sape Strait, western Sumba Strait, Sawu Sea.

In addition, high waves also occurred in the waters of the Indian Ocean south of Sumba Island-Sabu Island, southern waters of Kupang-Rote and southern Indian Ocean Kupang-Rote Ndao.

He said the wind pattern in northern Indonesia is dominantly moving from the southwest-west with wind speeds ranging from 10-25 knots, while in southern Indonesia, the wind is dominantly moving from east-southeast with wind speeds ranging from 6-25 knots.

The highest wind speed was observed in the Sunda Strait, Bali Strait, Lombok Strait, and northern Makassar Strait.

In this regard, BMKG urges shipping service actors and fishermen who will carry out activities in sea waters to pay attention to maritime weather forecasts before sailing.

He appealed to people who live and carry out activities on the coast around areas that have the opportunity for high waves to remain vigilant.
