XL Axiata Boss Hopes For Merger Process With Smartfren Involve Internally

JAKARTA - PT XL Axiata Tbk (EXCL) hopes to keep the merger process with Smartfren running smoothly, it is also better to involve and listen to the aspirations and input of internal and external stakeholders.

"The need for the fulfillment of employee rights is in accordance with applicable rules and regulations," said XL President Director and CEO Axiata Dian Siswarini quoting Antara.

According to him, with input from internal parties, it is hoped that in the future there will be no problems related to the existence of company employees, which currently number 1,600 people spread throughout Indonesia.

He said the XL Axiata merger process with Smartfren is now entering its final stage and it is hoped that a number of further processes can be completed by nature soon.

"Many have asked when this merger will happen and I say that the hilal has started to look a little bit," he said.

It is said, from both parties (XL Axiata and Smartfren) it can immediately reach an agreement and approval from the government is expected to be carried out quickly.

Dian said the consolidation of the two companies would bring the telecommunications industry healthier and could provide benefits to the people of Indonesia.

The company, said Dian, has a tagline that the business is not only pursuing money but also having a positive impact on the surrounding community, customers and the state.

"We exist to build and bring prosperity to Indonesia and also bring the vision to build the country of Indonesia," said Dian.

The completion target is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, but the approval of the two influential institutions is determined by the Ministry of Communication and Digital and OJK.

Currently, the company has 58.5 million subscribers, and is strengthened with more than 163,000 BTS, with the majority of 4G BTS spread across various regions in Indonesia.

XL Axiata also continues to invest in fiber networks, transmission, backhaul, network modernization, and various other network upgrades to improve network stability, capacity, and quality of data services in line with the continued increase in data service traffic.

The company currently provides a variety of services for retail and corporate customers supported by broad and quality networks throughout Indonesia. Since 2015, XL Axiata has implemented a quality 4G LTE network on a national scale, followed by the development of 5G networks in the third quarter of 2021.
