VinFast Records Growth In Domestic EV Delivery And Network Expansion In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Vietnamese automotive manufacturer VinFast reported an impressive achievement by sending 21,912 units of electric vehicles (EV) in the domestic market in the third quarter of this year, an increase of 66 percent compared to the previous quarter. This achievement shows a positive trend amid the increasingly fierce competition in the EV market.

However, behind this success, VinFast also faces major challenges, including increased losses in the second quarter. This loss was largely due to expansion costs to the international market and a decline in asset value, despite the increase in company revenue.

Citing a Reuters report on Wednesday, October 23, VinFast also recorded a record high monthly shipment with more than 9,300 EV units successfully distributed in September. This achievement strengthens its position in the domestic market as a major player in the EV industry.

Under VinGroup, VinFast continues to expand its reach to various countries, including the United States (US) and several countries in Southeast Asia such as Indonesia and the Philippines. Even so, the expansion to the US did not go smoothly. VinFast again postponed the opening of its plant in North Carolina until 2028, citing economic barriers and uncertainty in EV demand. In addition, this decision was taken as part of the company's strategy to adapt to the planned launch of manufacturing facilities.

Construction of the factory is currently being postponed, but is expected to produce electric SUVs such as VinFast VF9 three lines and VinFast VF8 five seats in America.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, VinFast continues to strengthen its presence by opening 15 new dealer networks in one month. This step confirms VinFast's commitment to providing high quality and affordable electric vehicles, equipped with comprehensive selling services for Indonesian consumers.

These dealers are present in various strategic cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Malang, Sidoarjo, Mojokerto, Surabaya, Bali, Batam, and Makassar. This expansion shows VinFast's seriousness in expanding the network in Indonesia, as well as strengthening its position in the regional market. As of August 31, VinFast has operated 155 showrooms across its market, of which 70 percent are dealers, making clear evidence of their rapid growth in the electric vehicle industry.
