Hezbollah Confirms Hashem Safieddine's Death Successor Hassan Nasrallah

JAKARTA - Hezbollah confirmed the death of Hashem Safieddine, the projected successor to lead the group after the assassination of leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Hezbollah said Safieddine was killed in Israeli airstrikes, without specifying a date.

"Your Excellency Sayyed Hashem Safieddine has devoted most of his life to serving Hezbollah, the Islamic Resistance and its people," the Lebanese militant group said in a statement reported by CNN, Wednesday, October 23.

Israel's Defense Forces (IDF) previously said Safieddine was killed when the Israeli Air Force attacked Hezbollah's underground intelligence headquarters on the southern outskirts of Beirut about three weeks ago.

"It is now certain that in an attack about three weeks ago, Hashem Safieddine, head of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, and Ali Hussein Hazima, head of the Hezbollah Intelligence Directorate, were killed along with other Hezbollah commanders," the Israeli military said in a statement., October 23.
