Ronald Tannur Is Free, Supreme Court Sentences 5 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - The Supreme Court granted the public prosecutor's appeal regarding the defendant Gregorius Ronald Tannur in the murder case of Dini Sera Afriyanti, by imposing a prison sentence of 5 years in prison, so Ronald Tannur was canceled.

Thus, the Supreme Court canceled the verdict of the Surabaya District Court (PN), East Java, which previously sentenced Gregorius Ronald Tannur to acquittal.

The Supreme Court stated that the alternative charges of the two public prosecutors that Gregorius Ronald Tannur violated Article 351 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code had been proven. Therefore, the defendant was sentenced to prison.

The decision was decided by the Chairman of the Soesilo Council and Member of Assembly 1 Ainal Mardhiah and Member of Assembly 2 Sutarjo, with the Registrar in Lieu of Yustisiana on Tuesday (22/10). Currently, the status of the case is in the process of being mitigated by the assembly.

On Wednesday (24/7), Ronald Tannur, who is the son of an inactive DPR member Edward Tannur, was acquitted by a panel of judges at the Surabaya District Court, chaired by Erintuah Damanik, from the murder charges of Dini Sera Afriyanti.

On the verdict, Thursday (25/7), the Surabaya District Attorney declared an appeal. Meanwhile, Dini Sera's father and sister, Monday (29/7), reported the three judges who decided the case to the Judicial Commission for alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct of Judges (KEPPH).

On Monday (26/8), KY imposed permanent dismissal with pension rights on three judges who sentenced Ronald Tannur to acquittal. According to KY, the three judges reportedly violated the KEPPH.

Most recently, the Attorney General's Office arrested three judges from the Surabaya District Court who sentenced Ronald Tannur to acquittal. This has been confirmed by the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, confirmed that the arrests of the three judges were related to allegations of bribery in the Ronald Tannur case.
