JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, opened his voice regarding the separation of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (Kemenko Perekonomies).

Airlangga said that the separation of the Ministry of Finance from the Ministry of the Economy was not a big problem. He considered that coordination between the Ministry of Finance and his Ministry had been going well so far.

"Yes, it's okay (separated), coordination is normal. It runs," said Airlangga to the media crew at the Ministry of Manpower Building, Tuesday, October 22.

Regarding the role of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy in fiscal policy, Airlangga ensured that his ministry still has a main role in industrial and trade policies.

"If there is an industrial policy, there must be fiscal and trade policy, so coordination is certain," explained Airlangga.

For information, the separation of the Ministry of Finance from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy was determined by President Prabowo Subianto in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 139 of 2024 concerning the Arrangement of Tasks and Functions of the Ministry of State.

As for Article 26 of the Presidential Regulation. The Coordinating Ministry for the Economy is currently recorded to coordinate 8 ministries, namely the Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Agency (BKPM), Ministry of Tourism, and other agencies deemed necessary.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of ATR/BPN are currently not registered as institutions coordinating with the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.
