Bawaslu Says There Are Still Many Young Voters In Jakarta Who Don't Know The Cagubs

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Munandar Nugraha said that public political knowledge, especially young voters in Jakarta, is still low. In fact, there are still many who do not know the candidate for deputy governor-candidate.

"Many young voters do not yet know who the candidate for governor will run in the Pilkada this time," Munandar said in his statement, Tuesday, October 22.

Yesterday, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU), and DKI Jakarta Bawaslu held a meeting to prepare for the 2024 Pilkada.

During the meeting, Munandar said that he had proposed the DKI Provincial Government to increase public political awareness through more massive socialization, including involving teachers in providing political literacy in schools, considering that students are novice voters.

Furthermore, Munandar also suggested that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and DKI Jakarta Bawaslu hold joint socialization to increase public political understanding.

"The importance of mapping polling stations (TPS) that are considered vulnerable and 'elite' polling stations with an emphasis on training and more intensive technical guidance for polling stations supervisors. If necessary, there will be more training than other polling stations," explained Munandar.

On the one hand, Bawaslu emphasized the importance of the DKI Provincial Government to maintain the neutrality of the state civil apparatus (ASN) in the Pilkada. "We will collaborate with all relevant parties to ensure that ASN neutrality is properly maintained," concluded Munandar.
