JAKARTA - Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Prabunindya Revta Revolution emphasized that press freedom is maintained in the government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"We will definitely increase the press freedom index. That is a commitment from the Red and White Cabinet led by President Prabowo," Prabu said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 22.

Prabu said that press freedom would be the same, even better than before. Moreover, the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, is a figure who has been in the world for a long time.

He believes that in the future the spirit that will be carried is to bring the press to a better direction.

Prabu also emphasized that President Prabowo repeatedly expressed his commitment to continuing various programs from the administration of the seventh President of Indonesia Joko Widodo.

One of them is the Presidential Regulation No. 32 of 2024 concerning the Responsibility of Digital Platforms to Support Quality Journalism or Publisher Rights, which will continue to be encouraged to provide stronger protection for national media.

In addition, he said, the Ministry of Komdigi is also reviewing other regulations that can strengthen the position of national media in the midst of digital disruption. This assessment is expected to produce regulations that strengthen the media in Indonesia.

"In the future, there is now a study so that we can provide reinforcement again through other regulations. The process is still under review at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics yesterday, and I am sure the same direction will be from the Minister," said Prabu.

"Tomorrow we will tidy up (the leadership meeting), of course we will convey the media strengthening initiative by the Ministry of Communication and Digital", he continued.

In addition to regulations, he continued, the Ministry of Communication and Digital will also play a role in supporting the digital transformation of national media.

Prabu assessed that the media is one of the pillars of democracy that must stay alive and strong. Therefore, the state must be present to ensure the existence of the media in the midst of the challenge of disruption.

"The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs will participate in guiding the process of digital transformation of national media so that the transformation can provide better and more tangible results for national media. So we will try to find new solutions for the adaptation of national media in the era of disruption," he concluded.
