Investment And Downstreaming In The Hands Of Rosan Roeslani
JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Rosan Perkasa Roeslani as Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, October 21, 2024.
Quoting Antara, Rosan, who was born in Jakarta in 1968, previously occupied the same position during President Jokowi's administration, and was a well-known businessman.
He was recorded as having a double degree S1, namely Public Management and Business and minor in finance at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1992, then earned a Master's degree in Business Administration from European University, Belgium in 1995.
Rosan has gone through a myriad of work experiences, with a record of having served as Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) for the 2015-2021 period, and previously serving as Financial Advisor to the Indonesian Batik Cooperative Association (1997-2002) and Deputy General Treasurer of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (2005-2008).
In addition to being experienced in finance and entrepreneurship, Minister Rosan has also received a mandate from the government as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the United States (US) in 2021.
After serving as ambassador, he was then assigned by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowi as Deputy Minister of SOEs replacing Pahala Mansury who served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in 2023.
He then resigned as Deputy Minister of BUMN, because he was appointed and trusted as Chairman of the Prabowo - Gibran National Campaign Team in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Seeing Rosan Roeslani's track record, who once held several strategic positions in government. President and Vice President Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka assigned himself back as Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM.
The task that is most awaited by him in sight is to meet Indonesia's investment realization target in 2024 which will reach IDR 1,650 trillion.
It was recorded that until September 2024, Indonesia's investment realization had reached Rp1,261.43 trillion or 76.45 percent of the target set by the President.

In addition, Rosan also bears the responsibility to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan which has been determined to require investment of up to IDR 2.77 quadrillion.
Rosan was also asked to advance the downstream climate in Indonesia, so that it would provide more benefits to the progress of the national economy.
Not only his task, but he must also prepare himself to face several challenges, such as how to spur Indonesia's investment competitiveness related to bargaining positions in the eyes of the international community, as well as fulfill investment in industrial estates or special economic zones (SEZs) in the country.
Rosan is also expected to formulate regulations or policies that can attract foreign investment, optimize coordination between ministries/agencies, and realize investment in the export-oriented manufacturing and downstream sectors.
