Floods And Landslides Hit A Number Of Areas In Trenggalek, East Java

JAKARTA - Floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Trenggalek Regency, East Java, Sunday, October 20, 2024. The disaster damaged several residents' houses and the bridge connecting between villages was completely broken.

The Head of BPBD Trenggalek,villai Atmono, said that the impact of floods and landslides was still being collected, especially regarding the details of the damage and the distribution of affected areas.

"For those who broke the bridge in Tazing Village, earlier the team was still measuring (dimensional damage to bridge construction). Tomorrow we plan to visit Munjungan," said Winai Atmono, quoted from Antara, Sunday, October 20, 2024.

In addition to the heavily damaged bridge in Tazing Village, Munjungan, landslides were reported to have occurred in Dukuh Village, Watulimo District, as well as Jombok Village and Pule Village, Pule District.

In Dukuh Village, Watulimo, a house belonging to a resident in RT 20/RW 06 was badly damaged with a broken wall being hit by a landslide.

Meanwhile, landslides in the villages of Jabok and Pule occurred the day before (Saturday, October 19, 2024) when it rained with a high enough intensity of rainfall. There were no reports of casualties in the incident.

"The landslide made the wall of Mr. Kajen's house burst," said Tri, Called Sapi Atmono.

The damage to the bridge that crossed the Silokondo River occurred on Sunday (20/10) at 01.30 WIB.

The bridge was cut off at RT 07/RW 01 Gunung Kembar Hamlet after the river overflowed after the surrounding area was hit by heavy rains.

"Previously the Munjungan area was hit by moderate to heavy rain since 21.00 WIB," said Cikini.

The bridge cut with a length of 25 meters, width and height of three meters, causing access to the Hamlet of Mount Kembar-Dusun Domerto to be completely cut off.

Even so, he said that none of the residents were isolated due to the damage to the bridge, because the broken bridge was an alternative access.

"It's an alternative bridge, residents can still use the Central River. So nothing is isolated," he added.

They said that previously the Watulimo District was hit by heavy rain from 20.00 WIB to Sunday morning.

He appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for hydrometeorological disasters in line with the changing seasons.

"Always be careful and alert, and monitor weather development information regularly," he said.
