Anwar Abbas Hopes Leaders Are Not Allergic Criticism

Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive, Anwar Abbas, hopes that future leaders will not be allergic to criticism in order to find solutions to the problems of the country and for the benefit of the community.

"We hope that all leaders in this country in the future will not be allergic to criticism, as long as from all parties there is a sincere desire to resolve these conflicts through the consensus we have built," said Anwar Abbas, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, October 20, 2024.

Anwar Abbas's statement responded to various responses regarding Prabowo Subianto's first speech as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia at the inauguration in Senayan, Jakarta.

In his speech, Prabowo emphasized a number of things, such as the issue of food and energy independence, water problems, nutrition for children and subsidies, problems of unity and integrity as well as problems of corruption.

In addition, Prabowo also mentioned the attitude of leaders who must really work for the people and foreign politics of Indonesia who are free to be active against colonialism and oppression.

Anwar Abbas views that the speech has received mixed responses, some welcome it with optimism, but some also show their pessimism.

"Both the government and the public are able to take advantage of the existing dialects in the form of tests and antitheses to find good synthesis for this nation and state," he said.

According to Anwar Abbas, if differences of opinion are made as a constructive thing and criticism is placed as a reminder, then Indonesia will become a big and developed country.

"It will also be a strong and beautiful country because the sense of unity and integrity among the citizens of the nation will be well established," he said.
