BMKG: A Number Of Cities In Indonesia Potentially Heavy Rain Today
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) asked the public to be aware of the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in a number of major cities in Indonesia on Sunday, October 20.
"In Java, Jakarta is thick cloudy. Bandung and Yogyakarta have heavy rain accompanied by lightning. Meanwhile, Serang, Semarang, and Surabaya have the potential for light rain," said BMKG forecaster Cici Sucianingsih in a weather forecast broadcast, quoted by Antara.
Especially for around Senayan, Jakarta, BMKG previously predicted sunny weather conditions on the inauguration day of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka as President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029.
As for Sumatra, light to moderate rain is predicted in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Palembang, and Pangkal Pinang.
Meanwhile, in Banda Aceh and Jambi, the air ran away, in Padang, fog smoke. Bengkulu and Lampung are thick cloudy. Meanwhile, Pekanbaru has the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds.
"In the Denpasar area, it is estimated that light rain and in Mataram and Kupang is forecasted to be thick cloudy," he said.
Furthermore, he said, in the Kalimantan region heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds has the potential to occur in Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, and Tanjung Selor. Meanwhile Samarinda and Pontianak rained with light intensity.

Moving to the Sulawesi area, he continued, the Mamuju and Manado areas have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds. As for Gorontalo, Palu, and Makassar, light rain is predicted. Meanwhile Kendari is thick cloudy.
In Eastern Indonesia, he said, Sorong, Nabire, Manokwari, Jayapura, Jayawijaya and Ambon generally have light to moderate rain. Meanwhile Ternate and Merauke have the potential to be thick cloudy.
