Gregoria's Thigh Injury Turns Out To Spread To Pinggang

JAKARTA - The Indonesian women's singles badminton player, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, has problems with the thigh so that she steps down in the semifinals of the Denmark Open 2024.

Gregoria fell behind in the first game 20-22 and could not continue the match against An Se Young at 12-12 in the second game Saturday, October 20, 2024 evening WIB.

The women's singles coach, Herli Djaenudin, said that her students had actually felt this problem since the quarter-finals against Pusarla V. Sindhu.

"Murchia's condition is not doing well starting from her thigh and has reached her waist," said Djaenudin in a statement received.

When fighting Sindhu, the bronze medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics was actually repeatedly reminded by the coach to step down if his condition was not possible.

However, he insisted on continuing the match and finally securing his third win in the history of the meeting with the Indian singles.

"As a coach, I have said that if it is sick, yes, don't force it. There are still many matches in front, but Gregoria still wants to try," he said.

Gregoria has actually been handled by PBSI physiotherapy and has been checked continuously from the morning during warm-up training. In addition, he also participated in special movement therapy when trained by physical trainers.

"Yes, I hope that Gregoria can get through this and recover soon, because for all of us, Gregoria's health and all athletes are priorities," said Djaenudin.

This result made Gregoria fail to improve a bad record against An Se Young. In the previous eight clashes, the 2017 junior world champion never won once.
