Pondok Rajeg Station Officially Operates, Minister Of Transportation: Jabodetabek Is Getting Connected

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said that the reactivation of Pondok Rajeg stations would increase connectivity in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas, even to the end of the Depok and Bogor areas.

As is known, the reactivation of the station in Cilodong District, Depok was recently inaugurated by the government, in this case the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi this morning.

"A few years ago I came here and Pondok Rajeg station is not functioning yet. Today the station can be used and the public will enjoy the convenience of riding mass public transportation from Pondok Rajeg to the center of Jakarta," he said in an official statement, Saturday, October 19.

Budi said Pondok Rajeg Station serves the KRL Commuter Line trip across Jakarta City-Nambo. This reactivation is also expected to reduce the level of congestion in Jabodetabek due to the high use of private vehicles compared to public transportation.

According to Budi, the reactivation of Pondok Rajeg station, which has not been operating since 2006, is part of the Ministry of Transportation's commitment to improve integrated, efficient and affordable public transportation services.

"The Ministry of Transportation has the task of the President that connectivity between modes must be made well and I appreciate the collaboration of all parties," he said.

The reactivation of Pondok Rajeg station has been carried out by the Jobedetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) since 2022 at a cost of Rp. 27.9 billion. Currently, the management of Pondok Rajeg station has been handed over to the Directorate General of Railways through the Jakarta Class I Railway Engineering Center.

Plt. Head of BPTJ Suharto stated that this development or reactivation is an effort to distribute passengers at Cibinong Station, Nambo Station, as well as revive new trips according to the target of 5,000 passengers per day.

"This is a follow-up to the direction of the Minister of Transportation during a visit to Pondok Rajeg August 2021. We together with the Directorate General of Railways, PT KAI and PT KCI and the Depok City Government are planning until the implementation of development and now Alhamdulillah it has been completed," said Suharto.

Meanwhile, Depok Mayor Muhammad Idris welcomed the reactivation of Pondok Rajeg Station. He hopes that this joint collaboration will be able to reduce congestion and improve the economy of the city of Depok.

"A total of 65 percent of Depok residents are immigrants so that Depok residents and their families elsewhere will feel the ease of public transportation to and from Depok," he said.
