Solidarity For Palestine, Greek Port Workers Don't Want To Unload Cargo Aenjata To Israel

JAKARTA - Delivery of containers containing ammunition to Israel carried out a Greek port sabotaged by workers by refusing to unload cargo loads onto the ship. Port workers Piraeus detained containers reportedly shipped to Greece via North Macedonia, intended to be sent to Israel's Haifa port.

However, in response to calls from local labor unions, dock workers at the port of Piraeus gathered and took a firm stance, preventing deliveries from continuing.

According to Greek State Television ERT, workers wrote the words "Killer, exit port" on the container and voiced their solidarity with the Palestinian people by shouting the slogan "Freedom for Palestine."

Piraeus Port Workers Union President Markos Bekris issued a statement condemning the sending of ammunition aimed at fighting in the conflict in Gaza.

"We have decided not to allow the delivery of war ammunition from the port of Piraeus which will continue the genocide of the Palestinian people," Bekris said, stressing that workers would not tarnish their hands "with the blood of the Palestinians."

Quoted from ANTARA, Bekris also urged the Greek government to stop any involvement in the conflict, calling for an immediate cessation of state participation. "We demand that our country immediately stop engaging in war," he added.

Israel continues to carry out brutal attacks on Gaza after cross-border attacks by Palestinian group Hamas on October 7 last year, despite UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire.

More than 42,400 people have been killed, mostly women and children, and more than 99,100 injured, according to local health authorities.

Israeli attacks have displaced nearly the entire population in the Gaza Strip amid ongoing blockades that cause severe food shortages, clean water, and medicine.

Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court for its actions in Gaza.
