Solo City Government Prepares Jokowi's Return Welcome

SOLO - The Surakarta City Government will deploy tens of thousands of people to welcome Joko Widodo (Jokowi) back on October 20.

"We have coordinated with the palace protocol and the ranks of the TNI/Polri. Pak Jokowi will go to Solo on October 20, at 16.00 WIB the plane landed at Adi Soemarmo Airport," said Head of the Surakarta City Protocol, Communication and Public Administration Section (Prokompim) Sulistiarini, reported by ANTARA, Friday, October 18.

He said several parties involved in the welcoming included the Forkompimda ranks of Central Java Province, the Surakarta City Forkompimda and the coordinators, OPD ranks, community leaders, interfaith leaders, and retired civil servants who had served in the Jokowi era while still serving as Mayor of Surakarta.

"In addition, at the reception we also involved school children, the community, ASN. They will fill the road from Makuta (the border monuments of Karanganyar and Surakarta) to Sumber," he said.

He said it was in accordance with the instructions of the Acting Mayor of Surakarta Dhoni Widianto and the Regional Secretary of Surakarta, Budi Murtono, so that there would be as many times as possible.

"The Education Office is ready, maybe tens of thousands. School children will be given the Red and White flag to be flown when Pak Jokowi's entourage passes," he said.

Regarding the welcoming, he said, it is part of the tradition in the city of Surakarta as a thank you for the dedication while serving as a leader.

"We do a simple welcome, as a wong Solo maintains tradition. There are retired officials who have surrendered to the mandate, handover and acceptance," he said.

According to information, later there will be TNI Commander General Agus Subianto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo who will accompany Jokowi from Jakarta to Solo.
