Teguh Setyabudi Officially As Acting Governor Of DKI Replaces Heru Budi, Tito: Needed In The Middle Of An Important Transition

JAKARTA - Teguh Setyabudi was officially appointed as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian. Teguh replaced Heru Budi Hartono, whose term ended after leading Jakarta for the last 2 years.

After taking the oath of office, Tito put on a rank mark, embedding the position and submission of the Presidential Decree document. Then, Teguh signed the minutes of taking the oath of office and integrity pact.

In his remarks, Tito Karnavian revealed the reason why President Joko Widodo did not again appoint Heru to continue his position as Acting Governor of DKI, which only lasted a few months until the Governor-Deputy Governor of Jakarta as a result of the 2024 Pilkada was inaugurated.

Tito assessed that Heru must focus on carrying out his duties as Head of the Presidential Secretariat during the transition from President Joko Widodo to Prabowo Subianto. So, Heru can no longer hold two positions as he has been running for the past 2 years.

"He (Heru) will regulate everything related to the matter of changing the president's transition. Including regulating us later if the events related to the agenda are from Mr. Prabowo. Indeed, his concentration will be very full there. So, a new official is needed in the midst of his focus in a very important transition like this," said Tito at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Central Jakarta, Friday, October 18.

According to Tito, Heru's 2-year leadership has produced quite a result for the development of Jakarta. Heru is considered to be very familiar with Jakarta's problems, so that it can lead to breakthroughs that need to be made.

"Mr. Heru has also succeeded in resolving the Ciliwung Sodetan, East Flood Canal, which reduces flooding in affected areas in the Ciliwung River," said Heru.

On the one hand, Tito asked Teguh to learn a lot about the procedures for the Jakarta government to Heru to carry out his duties as the new Acting Governor of DKI.

"You just have to ask Mr. Heru, which one to do and needs to be continued. Don't hesitate to ask him, because I also learned a lot from him when it comes to Jakarta," said Tito.

However, Tito emphasized that it does not mean that he doubts Teguh's capability to lead Jakarta. Considering that Teguh had served as Acting Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, Acting Governor of North Kalimantan, Director General of Regional Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs, to Director General of Dukcapil of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"You need to learn a lot from Mr. Heru, although I do not doubt Pak Teguh's ability. Pak Teguh is a pure bureaucrat and I consider it successful," said Tito.
