Using Fake Passports, 2 Thai Women Arrested By Riau Immigration
PEKANBARU - Two Thai women were arrested by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights because they wanted to make fake passports using valid documents. The two women with the initials JJ and TK entered Indonesia on September 29, 2024 and were secured on October 2, 2024.
The Head of the Regional Office of the Riau Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Budi Argap Situngkir, said that JJ and TK were arrested by Dumai Immigration officers when they arrived in Indonesia via Johor and entered Batam before continuing their journey to Dumai by using a speed boat.
"Administratively, all the documents met the requirements. However, during the interview, officers began to suspect. We saw striking ignorance. He could not answer basic questions about this country," said Budi Argap, Thursday, October 17.
His party suspected that JJ had stumbled upon a case in his country and fled to Indonesia and was on the Thai government's wanted list (DPO).
Furthermore, the Riau Ministry of Law and Human Rights handed over the two suspects to the Directorate General of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Jakarta to facilitate coordination with the Thai Embassy.
JJ and TK are suspected of violating Article 6 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration which regulates the use of illegal identity documents.

"This is a very serious act of betrayal against the Indonesian nation," he said.
