KAI Commuter Serves 1,048 Trips During Prabowo-Gibran Inauguration
JAKARTA - KAI Commuter's VP Corporate Secretary, Joni Martinus, said that his party served 1,048 trips from what should have been only 962 trips on Saturday-Sunday, October 19 and 20, 2024.
This step is taken as an anticipation as well as helping smooth community mobility which will attend the inauguration of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
As is known, the inauguration of the two coincided with the weekend or precisely on October 20, so the potential for public interest when the moment was predicted to be high.
Joni estimates that Jabodetabek Commuter Line users will increase by 45 percent when compared to the average user on Sunday.
According to Joni, this condition also occurred on October 5 which coincided with the celebration of the TNI's anniversary, there was a surge in users at the end of the week of around 45 to 50 percent.
"It is predicted that the total number of Jabodetabek Commuter Line users will penetrate more than 1 million users. So there is a potential for congestion to occur at stations located around activity centers such as Sudirman Station, BNI City Station, Manggarai Station, and Tanah Abang Station as transit stations," said Joni in an official statement, Thursday, October 17.
At Sudirman Station, continued Joni, it is predicted that there will be a total surge in users reaching 25,000 to 33,000 people with an average user volume on Sunday of 22,000 people.
"Meanwhile, at BNI City Station, it is predicted that there will be a surge of up to 2,200 people with an average of 1,400 people," he explained.
Meanwhile, continued Joni, the volume of transit at Manggarai Station is also predicted to increase by 62 percent or a total of 242,000 people.
Meanwhile, Tanah Abang Station is also predicted to increase by 37 percent or a total of 137,000 people.
With operating pattern settings referring to working days, KAI Commuter has prepared a carrying capacity of more than 1.8 million users who can be served throughout the day.
In addition, in this pattern of operations, the headway or Commuter Line travel waiting time on each crossing is also getting faster.
"On the Bogor route, the trip is 5 minutes, while the Bekasi/Cikarang route is 7 minutes and the Serpong/Rangkasbitung route is 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the Tangerang crossing is 18 minutes and the Tanjung Priok route is 20 minutes," said Joni.
KAI Commuter urges users to look for departure stations and alternative destinations in case of congestion.
Like the location of Sawah Besar Station, which is 1.8 km from the Monas Area, it can be an alternative if Juanda Station and Gondangdia Station experience congestion, or Tanah Abang Station which is 2.2 km away.
Meanwhile, to go to the Sudirman Area or HI Roundabout, users can choose Cikini Station, Tanah Abang, Karet and Gondangdia which are 1.5 -2 km apart as an alternative if Sudirman Station and BNI City Station are congested.
"Users can also get off and ride at BNI City Station which has a fairly wide waiting room and train platform facility," he said.
KAI Commuter will also add and thicken security officers from internal and TNI/Polri officers at the stations around the celebration center.
In addition, KAI Commuter will also open a portable counter and apply an open and close system for users who will enter the station platform area if the situation is already crowded.
