Fish Anglers At BKT Marunda Asked For Help When Drowning

JAKARTA - The Cilincing Sector Police (Polsek) stated that the results of the examination by the North Jakarta Metro Police Inafis team found no signs of abuse on the body of the drowning victim at the BKT Marunda River on Wednesday afternoon, October 16, 2024.

"The victim was found dead, allegedly because he drowned in the North Jakarta BKT Marunda Cilincing River," said Cilincing Police Chief Kompol Gernando Saharta Saragi quoting Antara, Thursday, October 17, 2024.

He said based on witness testimony that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at around 13.00 WIB. The victim and witness are fishing at BKT Marunda, North Jakarta.

Then, he said, the victim's fishing line was caught in a wooden branch near a hyacinth water plant and the victim told the witness he would try to swim to pick up a fishing line stuck in a hyacinth clove.

Furthermore, the victim took off his clothes and tried to get to the hook of the hook that was caught and had not yet reached the position of the hook that was caught, the victim screamed for help from the witness.

"This victim screamed for help while in the water to the witness and the witness ran for help, but when he returned the victim was not visible," he said.

Then at around 14:53 WIB came the Polairud Sat Patrol Team Polda Metro Jaya and North Jakarta Fire Department Sub-dept. to search for victims and at 16.10 WIB, the victim's body was found

"Currently, the victim's body is at the RSCM and waiting for a pick-up from the victim's family," he said.
