Senayan Pickpocket Arrested By Officers, One DPO

A gang of pickpocket specialists in the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) Senayan was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police.

A total of three perpetrators with the initials R (38), ML (27), RDP (25) were arrested. Meanwhile, the suspect with the initials A is still a DPO.

"In the action, the suspect with the initials R was in charge of taking the cellphone from the victim's bag with the initials C. The suspect ML is a motorcycle jockey from suspect R," said Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Rezeki Revi Respati when confirmed, Wednesday, October 16.

Meanwhile, the suspect with the initials RDP (25), played a role in carrying stolen cellphones from R and ML. RDP is also tasked with ensuring that the victim's evidence is not detected by throwing the SIM card from the stolen cellphone to prevent tracking.

"After successfully obtaining the cellphone, perpetrator R handed the item over to A, who is currently on the People's Wanted List (DPO) status," he said.

From the results of the examination, the three perpetrators often looked for prey in front of the stadium exit, in the midst of a crowd of spectators or ball supporters.

"Evidence in the form of a white Samsung M51 cellphone and the perpetrator's motorbike," he said.

As a result of their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding theft by weight.

"The threat of a sentence of up to seven years in prison is in accordance with conditions that have exacerbated the act of theft," he said.

Currently, the police are still hunting for the suspect with the initials A, who acts as the recipient of the stolen cellphone from suspect R. The case is still being handled by the Central Jakarta Metro Police.
