US Writes To Israel Asking To Complete Humanitarian Aid In Gaza

JAKARTA - The administration of the President of the United States (US) Joe Biden sent a letter to the Israeli government demanding Israel take action to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza in the next 30 days.

If it does not heed it, then Israel is at risk of violating the US Law governing foreign military aid, which suggests US military aid could be in danger.

Reported by CNN, Tuesday, October 15, a letter co-authored by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was addressed to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer.

This marks a significant new move from the US in an attempt to force Israel to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The letter noted that the US Department of State and Defense, under US law, must continue to assess Israel's compliance with the guarantees made earlier this year that it will not limit the flow of aid to Gaza's territory.

The deadline falls after the US presidential election on November 5.
