Denmark Open 2024: Leo/Bagas Secure Second Round Tickets

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana managed to secure a second half ticket after defeating Scottish representative Christopher Grimley/Matthew Grimley.

In the match which was held at Arena Fyn, Odense, Denmark, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, afternoon WIB, Leo/Bagas won two straight games, 22-20, and 21-19.

However, the path of each set is not easy. Leo/Bagas must rise from behind in the first set.

Christopher/Matthew sped up from the start with a 6-2 advantage. Leo/Bagas who got hot managed to catch up.

The Scottish doubles were two points ahead, 11-9, closing the interval. After the break, Christopher/Matthew's move looked smooth with a far advantage of 17-10.

However, Leo/Bagas slowly chased until they forced the position to a 19-19 draw. The Scottish pair had won the game point, but it was not allowed by the Indonesian doubles to make a brace.

Leo/Bagas were finally able to take the first set after winning two consecutive points.

In the second set, a fiercer fight occurred. The pursuit of numbers was inevitable. There were six times the position was balanced before Leo/Bagas took the lead in the 11-10 interval.

After the break, the tight duel continued. Nine times the draw took place. Both doubles took the lead, but then they can always be equated with just one point until the score was 19-19.

Luckily, Leo/Bagas managed to win the critical points. They won two consecutive points as well as closed the second set and match.

Meanwhile, Leo/Bagas became the first Indonesian representative to qualify for the second round of the Denmark Open 2024.
