Central Kalimantan Police Seize 50.6 Kilograms Of Methamphetamine In Jeriken

PALANGKA RAYA - Central Kalimantan Regional Police, through the Lamandau Police arrested a man with the initials W (33) with evidence of 50.6 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in jerry cans.

"The disclosure occurred on Tuesday (8/10/2024), when the joint patrol team of the Lamandau Police carried out patrols and checked the completeness of motor vehicle documents passing on Jalan Lintas Kalimantan kilometer 4, Kujan Village, Bulik District, Lamandau Regency," said Central Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Djoko Poerwanto as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 15.

He explained that while checking, the joint patrol team stopped a Toyota Calya unit with police number B 2742 UFC driven by perpetrator W.

The alleged perpetrator W admitted that he came from West Kalimantan Province to South Kalimantan Province with a cargo in the form of jerry cans.

"However, after further examination, it turned out that the jerry cans were not filled with oil, but there were black plastic packages," he said.

After examining the contents of the jerry can, there were 47 packs suspected of being methamphetamine weighing 50.6 kilograms.

The alleged perpetrator was arrested for further examination and development to reveal who the sender and recipient of the methamphetamine was.

"We are currently still investigating this case, because this is an extraordinary disclosure but it is also a threat to us. This means that the methamphetamine is still here," he said.

Based on the perpetrator's confession, he was the courier of the illicit goods. The perpetrator admitted that he had carried out the act of delivering methamphetamine three times.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 114 paragraph 2 or Article 112 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the threat of the death penalty or life imprisonment.
